Consulting & Valuation - Washington, D.C. - Overview

The District of Columbia and its environs comprise one of the most consistent yet constantly evolving lodging markets in the nation. HVS Washington, DC, established in 2008, performs consulting and valuation work to track, comprehend and predict these shifts for hotel clients in regional markets from landmark hotels in D.C. and Baltimore, to suburban and resort properties throughout the Mid-Atlantic. Our office is directed by David Fuller, a graduate of Cornell University's School of Hotel Management and Designated Member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI).

Our satellite office in Wilmington, Delaware, managed by Jerod Byrd, handles projects in the Philadelphia metro area, as well as engagements throughout the region.

Our satellite office in Boston, Massachusetts, managed by Brian Bisema, handles projects in the Boston metro area, as well as engagements throughout the New England region.

We take pride in our staff of hands-on professionals and industry veterans who serve the needs of hotel investors, buyers, sellers, owners and operators. A wide array of projects range represent from 40-room motels to 300-room full-service hotels and 1,000-room convention headquarters properties. Our expertise also extends to mixed-use properties that combine office, retail and residential components.

Our office performs the following consulting & valuation services:

  • Hotel Appraisals (Single Assets and Portfolios)
  • Hotel Market Studies
  • Hotel Feasibility Studies
  • Hotel Franchise Evaluations
  • Market Area Overview Reports
  • Hotel Appraisal Reviews
  • Transactional Advisory Services for the Hotel Industry

Highlights of how we can benefit you include:

  • Under the supervision of Market Data and Research Director, Amy Beam, we oversee the compilation of data on market data and trends, hotel assets, and hundreds of hotel transactions each year. Market data is available on all major U.S. and Mexico markets in our Market Area Overview reports.
  • We produce the popular HVS Employment-Hotel Growth Index, the revolutionary index for accurately forecasting future hotel demand based on employment growth in a metropolitan market.

With strong concern for the environment, our office has substantially reduced its carbon footprint by limiting the size and quantity of printed documents, recycling and using environmentally friendly products. We support a work-from-home capability for many of our associates to reduce carbon emissions. We also purchase credits from Carbonfund.org to offset emissions associated with employee travel and office operations.
