Consulting Experience
Tom Beckett, Vice President Vancouver Office is a graduate of the University of Guelph, having obtained a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) Degree, specializing in Hotel and Food Administration. As a student, Tom was awarded multiple leadership prizes and high achievement scholarships including the Bachelor of Commerce Leadership Prize from the College of Business and Economics. Tom is a Candidate Member of the Appraisal Institute of Canada working towards receiving the AACI Designation. He is also a member of the Real Estate Council of Alberta (RECA).
Tom’s work as a hospitality valuation consultant has taken him all over western Canada and north into the territories of the nation, including his home town of Whitehorse. He has worked on a variety of projects including market studies, feasibility studies for proposed hotels, appraisals of existing assets, and analysis and appraisal of proposed and existing large-scale multi-use developments with a hotel component. Prior to joining HVS, Tom held various operational roles in the hospitality industry. He also worked as an undergraduate teaching assistant and a research assistant while obtaining his post-secondary education.
Tom has authored several articles on various topics relevant to the hotel industry, including Accommodation Tax in Canada.
Tom is an avid hiker and has explored many of the forests and peaks in British Columbia.
