Responsibilities

Responsible for business development and client relations for HVS Hotel Management and HVS Asset Management - Newport, the service divisions of HVS that both manage hotels, motels and resorts for HVS clients in North America or oversee hotel assets on behalf of owners. The divisions also consults on hotel operations and marketing worldwide.

Other responsibilities include supporting our asset management assignments with various analyses and planning and participating in our various consulting assignments where his analytical skills bring many benefits to our clients. Mr. Crowley has a deep understanding of many hotel markets which is an asset to our hotels and clients.

Assists with market and financial analysis relating to prospective client engagements, current asset management assignments and acquisitions to be made by the company for its own account. As a senior officer participates in the company’s strategic planning process. Supports the operations and marketing staffs by lending his expertise in those areas where applicable.

Directed operations, sales activities, and compliance with federal, state, and financial institution regulations and guidelines. Oversaw staff of five in operations and 20 mortgage officers in Florida office and five loan officers in Texas office. Closed commercial loans; prepared loan packages and identified lenders. Completed all company forecasts, budgets, and reports. Monitored operations department workload and performance daily to ensure loans always closed on time; met all service expectations of realtor and builder partners. Supervised design consultants and participated in project design planning, focusing on casino floor, F& B outlets, entertainment venues, and back-of–the-house.

Completed projects related to potential casino and hotel developments and acquisitions. Performed target identification, market and competitive analysis, property valuation, pre-opening and development pro-forma and business plan development, negotiations with appraisers and bankers, and capital structuring. Prepared and executed several complex RFP’s for potential casinos.

Prepared development and pre-opening budgets as well as 7-year pro-formas for proposed $500 million Native American owned casino / hotel at Monticello Raceway in New York.

Generated review and letter of intent to finance $500 million casino project by Lehman Brothers by presenting comprehensive financing package.

Charged with coordinating and orchestrating reopening with new facility. Oversaw implementation of new systems, processes, and reports as well as reprocessing of all staff and staff training. Managed table games, slots, poker, F&B, Sales & Marketing, Casino Hosts, Players Club, HR, Accounting, Payroll, MIS/IT, Security, Surveillance, Maintenance, and Transportation. Oversaw 15 direct reports and total staff of 600. Analyzed and reviewed management reports. Created daily payroll analysis report for $10 million payroll. Consulted with, and advised, department heads to plan strategies and resolve issues. Interacted with customers and line employees; identified measures to improve operations.

Created and implemented new participatory budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting process; promoted increased ownership of process for department heads. Held key gaming license; formed excellent working relationships with city and state government and gaming officials. Participated in preparation of new jurisdiction gaming development applications in Missouri and due diligence on casino/hotel development and acquisition opportunities in Nevada and California; prepared all development, pre-opening, and pro-forma financial projections.

Directed all sales and marketing functions, including players club, direct mail, advertising, promotions, entertainment, group sales, bus and plane programs, and casino hosts. Managed staff of 2 managers and 23 associates. Maintained operations analyst role after assuming Director of Marketing position. Prepared and analyzed management reports.

Increased net profits from direct mail programs and events by over $200,000 per month by improving player tracking data mining, analysis, and performance reporting. Developed, implemented, managed, and analyzed daily P&L, reporting and forecasting package, and budgeting and financial review process for all departments; provided department heads with PC-based analytical tools to improve profitability; new analytical tools allowed department heads to develop action plans to maximize revenue, improve staff utilization, and control expenses. Participated in preparation of new jurisdiction gaming development applications in Indiana; performed due diligence on casino and hotel development and acquisition opportunities in US, France, Aruba, and Bahamas. Reduced payroll by over $2 million annually by spearheading major changes to staffing of all departments.

Managed development and acquisitions, including property identification, market and competition analysis, property valuation, pre-opening and development pro-forma and business plan development, negotiations with appraisers and bankers, and capital structuring. Worked with team including corporate counsel, 2 VP’s of Finance, and Marketing VP to close deals. Reviewed and analyzed potential acquisitions; recommended targets for acquisition.

Played key role in finance team’s acquisition of 95 hotels for $369 million. Prepared pro-formas and worked with investment bankers to finance $785 million acquisition of Days Inns of America. Created, implemented, and managed financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and management reporting packages for organization that grew to 150 hotels and 1000 franchised properties.
