Tourism, Hotel Investment & Networking Conference (THINC) Indonesia 2016 Successfully Concludes 

Hosted by HVS, the 4th edition of THINC Indonesia, which took place on 31 August and 1 September at the Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort, concluded on a high note. Like each year, the two-day conference lived up to its reputation of being a one-of-a-kind hospitality event in Indonesia. The event presented two exciting days of networking opportunities, engaging panel discussions and thought-provoking discussions on the hotel and tourism industries in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. Co-Hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, Republic of Indonesia and the Indonesia Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), the conference brought together 200 industry stakeholders, business leaders and key decision-makers from across 22 nations. The THINC Indonesia organizing committee is grateful to all sponsors, partners, speakers and delegates for their valued support, and for contributing towards yet another successful edition of the conference.

Intercontinental Hotels Group Opens Flagship InterContinental Shanghai NECC  

Intercontinental Hotels Group announced the grand opening of the InterContinental Shanghai NECC in the Hongqiao CBD. Just five kilometers from the Hongqiao International Airport and Hongqiao Railway Station, the hotel is strategically located near the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone and is also close to several tourist attractions, such as the Qibao Ancient Town, Zhujiajiao Watertown and the Shanghai Outlets Mall. InterContinental Shanghai NECC is the first luxury hotel located within Shanghai’s new National Exhibition and Convention Centre (NECC), the largest single building and exhibition complex in the world. The hotel offers 492 rooms and 44 suites, four restaurants and lounges, and more than 2,200 square meters of event space. InterContinental Shanghai NECC is the fifth InterContinental hotel in Shanghai and the 38th property under the Intercontinental Hotels & Resorts brand in Greater China.

HVS Alumnus Appointed to Top Development Role with Wyndham  

Philippe Bijaoui has been appointed as chief development officer for Europe, the Middle East, Eurasia and Africa region (EMEA) for Wyndham Hotel Group. Bijaoui, an HVS alumnus who once headed the HVS Madrid office, most recently held the post of vice president of development for Europe with InterContinental Hotels Group, and previously worked with Rezidor and Club Med amongst others in his more than 20 years of service in the industry. “Philippe has a stellar reputation in the EMEA development community, and I am confident he is the best person to lead our aggressive expansion plans for the region,” said Wyndham’s managing director for the EMEA region, Daniel Ruff.
