Hilton Announces the Debut of Curio Brand in China

Hilton Hotels & Resorts has recently announced the debut of Curio brand in China, with the opening of Sanya Yazhou Bay Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton in Sanya, Hainan Province. Studioaria was the interior designer and FSC Architects was the architect for the property. The resort's design perfectly combines characters of individual animals such as seabirds and flying fish, and Sanya’s environment and culture. Strategically located at Yazhou Bay, the only shallow bay area in the South China Sea, the resort is about 35 kilometres from the downtown, at 25 minutes-drive from Sanya Phoenix International Airport, at 8 minutes-drive from Nanshan Temple and Dongtian Park, and less than 15 minutes away from Tianya Haijiao. Overlooking the beautiful garden or ocean views, the resort features 267 rooms and suites with spacious balconies. Other facilities at the resort include eight flexible meeting rooms totaling 1,218 square meters,  five food and beverage outlets, a kid’s club, a gym,  a 2,000-square metre outdoor swimming pool and so forth.

Marriott International Opens the Fairfield by Marriott, Kathmandu, Nepal

Marriott International announced the opening of the Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu in Kathmandu, Nepal, earlier this week. Located in Thamel and approximately 5 km west of Kathmandu’s Tribhuvan International Airport, the hotel features 115 rooms. The hotel also features an all-day dining restaurant and bar, 370 square feet of meeting space, a fitness centre, a business centre and a 24-hour convenience store. The Fairfield by Marriott Kathmandu is Marriott International’s first hotel in Nepal.

AirAsia Launches the First Bali – Mumbai flight

AirAsia X Indonesia introduced daily flights from Denpasar, Bali to Mumbai, India, transiting in Kuala Lumpur. Inaugurated on  May 19, the Bali-Mumbai route operates on an Airbus A330-300 with 377 seats, of which 365 seats are of economy class and 12 are of business or premium class. After the launch of the new flights, a 50 per cent growth in tourist arrivals in anticipated from the Indian market as Bali strives to meet its target of 20 million foreign tourists by 2019. Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Mumbai, Saut Siringoringo, envisioned that the new flights will be a catalyst for trade, tourism and investment in both countries. In the meantime, tour operator, Panorama Destination plans to hire new representatives in New Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai and develop new tourism products for the market.

Best Western to Launch Three More Hotels in Japan

Best Western Hotels & Resorts has announced the signing three hotels in key cities across Japan, all slated to open during the last quarter of 2017. The three hotels are the 105-room Best Western Osaka Tsukamoto in the country’s second largest city, 60-room Best Western Sapporo Odori-Koen on the northern island of Hokkaido, and the 94-room Best Western Yamagata Airport, which will be a conversion project, in north-central Honshu. These developments follow the recent opening of the 105-room Best Western Tokyo Nishikasai Grande, Best Western’s third property in Japan, and the rebranding of The Hotel Nagasaki to become Best Western’s flagship Premier Collection hotel in Asia. As a result of the new additions, Best Western will have a portfolio of 15 properties in Japan. In 2016, Japan’s tourism industry recorded a total of 24 million international visitors, and the government is setting a target of 40 million arrivals by 2020 (the year Tokyo hosts the Summer Olympic Games) and 60 million arrivals by 2030.

Changi Airport’s Jewel and Improved Plans for Connectivity Aimed to Attract Tourists to Singapore

The latest feature and design of Changi Airport’s new terminal – Jewel which is set to open in early 2019, has been unveiled. In order to attract passengers to transit in Singapore, Jewel has been designed with a 14,000  square metre Canopy Park which has walking trails at its topmost level, as well as two Canopy Mazes. One will feature 1.8 metrehigh hedges, changeable paths and a lookout tower; the other will feature an outdoor mirror maze with an infinity chamber. Other features include The Sky Nets, Foggy Bowls for children, a glass-floored Canopy Bridge and a massive art sculpture with a 6.5 metre-high observatory deck. Changi Airport has also launched a new shuttle bus service between Singapore Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT) and Changi Airport (Terminal 2) to smoothen the trip to Batam’s Riau Islands and Bintan Indonesia. This is in line with Singapore Cruise Centre’s (SCC) recent plans to connect TMFT and Harbour Bay Terminal in Batam with new ferry routes in July 2017.
